Part of the Slate Island Collection: paintings inspired by trips to the Inner Hebrides islands of Easdale and Seil, off the North West coast of Scotland. The islands were the centre of the Scottish slate industry until a huge tidal wave flooded the quarries in 1881. Easdale has a small community of 60, living in white miners’ cottages. There are no roads or cars and the island is ringed by these atmospheric flooded quarries.
