Part of the Slate Island Collection: paintings inspired by trips to the Inner Hebrides islands of Easdale and Seil, off the North West coast of Scotland.
An early attempt to distil my experiences of being on Seil and Easdale, using a collage technique to combine different visual elements. Cuan Ferry is on the far side of the Island of Seil and links Seil with the island of Luing. I walked to the Ferry from Ellenabeich village on Seil. It was a spectacular hike along the coast.
Later I found an old poem in a book about the Slate Islands and it fitted with the wildness of the picture.
